This beautiful little girl is Sadie, and her parents invited me to their home to capture her newborn images. People choose in-home newborn sessions instead of studio sessions for many reasons. Some want more casual images; some want to show off the nurseries they spent so much time on; still others want to include the entire family – sometimes even grandparents! Sadie’s family wanted a little of all that, I think, but absolutely wanted to include Sadie’s furry siblings!
Getting dogs to cooperate for photos can be a bit of a daunting task. There’s already so much excitement around the new baby, and now a stranger with a lot of scary looking equipment is in their home bossing everyone around! Some pups are just not having it. Sadie’s pups did great! They loved getting to spend time in the nursery with the family, and they even posed for a few formal images with their new sister. What good babies!
Sadie herself was definitely a go-with-the-flow type of girl. While she was wide awake at the start of her session, she didn’t seem to mind being the star of the show! She cuddled her parents, chilled in her crib, and was a good sport when her furry siblings wanted to check her out. Her favorite part of the morning was getting all wrapped up, though. She couldn’t fight sleep any longer, and we got some great portraits for mom and dad.
Welcome to the world, Sadie. Your family – pups included – loves you so much!
