Oh, Jack. I can’t believe you’ve been lighting up my studio for a whole year now! I didn’t think you could get any more adorable after your sitter session, but you managed it with this perfect cake smash.
Let’s talk about cake smashes. If you’ve had a cake smash with me, you know that things are not always as they appear. Most babies do not sit in front of a cake, eat giant bites and smash it to pieces while smiling happily. Most babies just don’t like to get dirty, and they definitely don’t typically love those first few bites of sugary icing. So how do we get these adorable cake smash shots? There’s usually trickery involved, and I am not ashamed to admit it! My go-to trick is sticking Cheerios in the cake. Babies LOVE Cheerios. I can usually get a few cute images of them looking like they’re eating this way. I have even resorted to sticking toys into the cake! For smiles, I sing like a lunatic. And the smashing? Usually done by parents! So which of these tricks did we use on Jack? Not a single one!
Jack was born to smash cakes. And grin at people. This little guy dove right into his cake, with hands and feet, and had it demolished in the span of minutes! And he smiled the entire time. Jack, you’re the best. I am going to miss your cute face, and those big blue eyes, but hopefully there are family sessions in our future! Happy birthday, little guy!
