Meet Luca and Layla. Luca is turning one, which is a big deal! But Luca’s furry sister Layla is turning ten, so their parents wanted a way to celebrate them both! They asked me if I thought a joint cake smash was crazy, and I said “No way – let’s do it!”
Luca’s (and Layla’s!) parents wanted a tropical pineapple/surf theme, which is a super fun idea! My baker loved getting to make this pineapple cake, and I think this was the first time I’ve ever actually bought whole pineapples at the store! I even got to put my crafting skills to the test by making some pretty awesome cardboard surfboards – aren’t they cute?!
When it came time to smash, Layla liked her cake a bit more than her brother did, but they both did a great job! Layla is so photogenic, and sweet Luca looked adorable in his little board shorts. He eventually got into his cake a little, and I think he had a pretty good time.
Happy birthday to both Luca and Layla! Your cake smash was definitely a first for me, but what a great first!
